Dietary Suggestions for Spleen Yang Deficiency

When people with Spleen Qi Deficiency eat cold foods or their system is otherwise exposed to cold, their condition may deteriorate into Spleen Yang Deficiency. Symptoms include: abdominal pain that is relieved with heat, poor appetite, desire for warmth, aversion to cold, watery diarrhea. It sometimes can cause leukhorea (vaginal discharge) and edema.

Beneficial Foods: generally warm or hot
apple cucumber, beef, bird's nest, black-eyed peas, carrot, cayenne pepper, cherry, chestnut, chicken, chicken egg yolk, cinnamon, cloves, button mushrooms, dates, fennel, ginger, lotus fruit and seed, mustard, mutton, nutmeg, pepper, perch, potato, mustard seed, rice, rock sugar, string bean, sweet potato, yam.

Beneficial Teas:
ginger, cinnamon

Avoid:
cold foods, alcohol,
